this past weekend i found myself in long beach for some work projects (more on that soon!) and i decided to meander over to retro row — long beach’s version of a vintage shopper’s heaven. i strolled up and down the fourth street vintage shops and found myself in a shop i’d never visited before, the hangout. a self-proclaimed “clever mix of old and new clothing & housewares and a delightful succulent garden & ice cream bar” — they’ve got that quite right! i was drawn in by the eclectic mix of vintage finds (including quality old vinyl records) and new pieces with handmade craftsmanship, like jewelry and clothing. not only is it a charming shop with a really friendly staff, the hangout also hosts monthly workshops, special events (like in-store musical performances) and dinner parties in their sunny back garden — which you can rent out for parties of your own, as well. if you’re in the L.A. area, be sure and sign up for some of the fun. and for those of you not in the area, put it on your bucket list and the in meanwhile, shop online. excuse the massive amount of photos, but everywhere you turn there’s an amazing nook to peruse, so i couldn’t stop snapping!
